SI8751AB-ISR Description
The SI8751AB-ISR is an Isolated FET Driver with Pin Control or Diode Emulator Inputs. New methods for developing unique Solid State Relay (SSR) configurations are made possible by the Si875x. An SSR FET driver and reliable isolation technology are combined in the Si875x. Due to the product's ability to produce its own self-contained gate drive output voltage, a floating secondary side dc power source is not required. Customers can optimize the cost, PCB area, power, on-resistance, and thermal performance of their system by combining a complete solid state relay with an external FET of their choice.
To best fit their application, customers can choose between digital input control (Si8751) and diode emulation control (Si8752). With its integrated outputs, the Si875x may drive either AC or DC load topologies.
The Si875x does away with the requirement for large mechanical relays, which can be challenging to mount into PCBs and increase switching noise in the system.
Traditional SSRs use LED inputs with an optocoupler design, which restricts the solution's operating temperature range. No such restriction applies to the Si875x, which can accommodate the whole industrial and automotive temperature ranges with improved stability and longer life.
The Si875x uses as low as 1 mA of input current to drive FET gates with a nominal 10 V. Turn-on times as quick as 94 ms are possible when the input current is increased to 10 mA. The Si8751's varied input side voltage ranges of 2.25 V to 5.5 V enable seamless connection to low-power controllers. When a high dV/dt is present on the FET's drain, the Si875x devices include an Active Miller Clamp to prevent the unintentional turn-on of the external FET.
Since the Si875x satisfies the requirements of AEC-Q100, it can be used in automotive applications. Additionally, its isolation rating of 2.5 KVrms serves as the foundation for full certification to UL, CSA, VDE, and CQC.
A mechanical relay, photo switch, or SSR replacement may be used for a variety of purposes, such as motor control, valve control, HVAC relay, automotive, charging, battery monitoring, ac mains line switching, and more.
The ROHS-compliant SOIC-8 packaging used by the Si8751 and Si8752 offers a small, industry-standard footprint and a lot of room for clearance and creepage.
