DAC7311IDCK Description


Low-power, single-channel, voltage output digital-to-analog converters include the DAC5311 (8-bit), DAC6311 (10-bit), and DAC7311 (12-bit) components (DACs). These devices are perfect for portable, battery-operated applications due to their low power consumption (0.55 mW at 5 V, dropping to 2.5 W in power-down mode) during normal operation.

These devices offer a simple upgrade path within a pin-compatible family, great linearity, eliminate undesirable code-to-code transient voltages, and are monotonic by design. The three-wire serial interface used by all of the devices is flexible, supports clock rates up to 50 MHz, and is backwards compatible with the SPI, QSPI, Microwire, and digital signal processor (DSP) interface standards.

Every device sets its output range using an external power source as a reference voltage. A power-on reset (POR) circuit built into the devices makes sure the DAC output powers up at 0 V and stays there until a legitimate write to the device takes place. The power-down feature on the DAC5311, DAC6311, and DAC7311, which can be accessed via the serial interface, lowers the device's current consumption to 0.1 A at 2.0 V when it is in power-down mode.

These components provide a simple upgrade path from 8-, 10-, and 12-bit resolution to 14- and 16-bit because they are pin-compatible with the DAC8311 and DAC8411. Each device comes in a compact, 6-pin SC70 (SOT) box. This package offers a flexible, pin- and function-compatible, drop-in solution within the family over an extended temperature range of ?40°C to +125°C.
