The Broadcom® BCM88890 is a series of high-radix, high-bandwidth network routing devices.

It features 144 SerDes lanes, operating at 106-Gb/s PAM4, in its network interfaces, that can support up to 18 × 800GbE, 36 × 400GbE, or 72 × 200GbE network-facing ports.

Its scalable fabric interface is comprised of 160 SerDes lanes for connecting to the StrataDNX fabric elements, to build the industry-largest scalable systems.

The BCM88890 also integrates hierarchical traffic manager, scalable packet buffer memory and low latency forwarding, to deliver complete switching and routing at low power.

Integrated accelerators provide visibility for services traversing network.

The BCM88890, combined with the BCM88920, is designed to meet the unique requirements for next-generation Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) routed networks.

AI/ML training clusters have unique communication patterns and require specific network optimizations to minimize job completion time (JCT).

These requirements can include high network utilization and very large flows traversing it.

The BCM88890 and the BCM88920 reduce JCT by preventing congestion and Head-of-Line blocking, by perfect load balancing that allows flow transmission using the full network bandwidth, and other means.

They can scale the network connectivity up to 25.6Pb/s to the servers, at Ethernet rates of 50GE, 100GE, 200GE, 400GE and 800GE.
